Women Power Zongolica is a coffee lot produced by 20 women, most of whom identify as part of the Nahuas indigenous group. This group learn how to maintain their land from their elders who teach the importance of intercropping to preserve biodiversity and maintain the lands energy and nutrients.
Each farmer uses a hand-cranked de-pulper to remove the seed from the coffee cherry before washing and drying the seeds on patios for 15 days.
Because this lot of fed into from 20 different producers the selection of coffee tree varieties it consists of is large. It contains Caturra, Catuai, Sarchimor and Marsellesa, which helps create a flavour profile with a little bit of everything but most notably brown sugar and nuts.
